How to Draw Saint Martin de Porres

Did you know that during November we celebrate Black Catholic History month? In today’s tutorial, I walk you through how to draw Saint Martin de Porres step-by-step. We use simple lines and shapes and you can color him with your favorite art supplies.

Saint Martin’s father was a Spanish nobleman and his mother was a freed slave of African and Native descent. He is known for his work on behalf of the poor and you often see him holding a broom, a basket of bread, or surrounded by animals.

Mother Cabrini Shrine Catholic Travel Vlog

At the end of August, my friend Cate and I got a chance to visit the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden, CO and The Retro in Arvada, CO. I didn’t get a chance to share our trip until now. If you’re ever in Colorado, I definitely think it’s worth visiting!

There are lots of beautiful spaces to explore. Some of my favorites were the Stations of the Cross hike, the Rosary Garden, and the spring fountain. You can see more in my vlog below.

You can learn more about the Mother Cabrini Shrine here: https://mothercabrinishrine.org/

The Retro – https://theretro.net/ (Leanne Bowen and Elizabeth Zelasko were some of the artists with prints in the shop)

Celebrating One Year of Catholic Art Tutorials!

A year ago today, I re-launched my YouTube channel to create Catholic art tutorials. I committed to creating at least 3 tutorials a month for a year to help provide a resource for Catholic families, schools, homeschooling families, budding artists, etc.

Honestly, I didn’t think that I would make it this far, and it’s all thanks to you. Every time I thought about giving up, you would send me a message or a picture of your family’s artwork and it made all of the difference and inspired me to keep going with this crazy dream of mine.

As of today, my little channel has almost 500 subscribers and over 60 tutorials. I do this just for fun in my free time. If you want to see what goes into a video that I make for you, be sure to check out my newest video showing a behind-the-scenes look:

If you want to support the work that I do here, I would greatly appreciate it. I am completely self-funded and buy all of my own supplies, technology, etc. You can “buy me a coffee” or make a donation to my art supply wish list. Buy Me a Coffee is like a tip jar (Patreon/Go Fund Me “lite”).

Thank you again for all of your prayers, encouragement, and support. I have loved seeing all of the artwork you have been creating. Here’s to another year!
